My next core value is to stay positive. I am half glass full kind of girl! I stated above that this world is a hard place to live in, but if you let all of the negative things that happen bring you down you are in for a downward spiral of depression. I try to find something positive in every negative event that occurs i my life. Most of the time you don't really see the blessings in disguise that will occur from that negative event until later on. Being positive is contagious, but so is negativity which is why it is important to only surround yourself with positive people and get all of the negativity out of your life! Plus thinking positively helps with thinking compassionately, and vice versa.
My final core value is honesty. Honesty with others causes issues to heal, shows your genuine, and most of the time makes the other person feel more appreciated. Being honest sounds so simple, but from experience, the world we live in lies to us everyday. This causes flaws in character, which makes the world even harder to live in sometimes. I believe that honesty is the hardest value to live up to, but the hardest things are usually the most worth while. Being honest with yourself may even be harder than being honest with others. If we are honest with ourselves we will continue grow as a person, with others, and love and accept ourselves!

I do not know where my action research is going to take place. I have 3 ideas about what I might focus my research on, both involving kids with disabilities. It will either take place in my friend's third grade classroom in Fullerton, at the house's of families with autistic children, or at the National Association Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Nepal.
My first choice is the NADH because I have already done an iPad project with them. The problems I see are mostly with the communication between the deaf and the rest of the community in Nepal. In Nepal if you are disabled you are at the bottom of the totem pole, meaning unlike in the U.S. people with disabilities get very little to no help. Most of the community in Nepal does not know sign language, and does not think it is important to learn. This causes so many problems in the everyday lives of the deaf community.
Another problem I see is the struggle between the deaf parents and they're children and vice versa. This mostly pertains to younger children, but from what I saw the parents with deaf children have a hard time learning to communicate with their children and the children have a hard time with their school work and vice versa.
The foundation helps teach Nepali sign language to anyone who needs to learn to communicate with a deaf person, and also helps the deaf members of the community learn to take care of themselves by teaching them a skill, or how to be a successful contribution to society. I want to help create a bridge of communication to better the deaf and their families based on the problems I have discussed.
Force Field Analysis
The focus of the action research from the literature review of Josh Burker is on creating the Tech Club that he runs more appealing to girls and children with autism. He wants to find activities that he can use in tech club that would be better suited for girls. He also is trying to to figure out how autistic students that are proficient and capable with technology can benefit in a social setting such as tech club.

He wants to find activities that he can use in tech club that would be better suited for girls. He also is trying to to figure out how autistic students that are proficient and capable with technology can benefit in a social setting such as tech club.
The literature review starts with an overview of the tech club and what problems he wants to address. In the overview he states a little bit about why he is researching what he is, and then follows with a bunch of questions that he is going to try and come up with a solution to. Then it is split up into three categories that dive deeper into facts about why he views his problems as problems he wants to solve.
The Understanding of Gender Differences in the Use of Technology
Finding Voice and Collaborating Through Technology
Empowerment and Leadership Potential Cultivated by Technology Use
Lastly he has an Informed for Action paragraph where he talks about what he is hoping to find solutions for. This mostly just reviews his summary in the beginning.
Research Question
What modifications might be made to the way Tech Club operates and the kinds of activities that we take part in to better suit girls?
How could these interests and capabilities be leveraged in a Tech Club?
How could the student who possesses such skills benefit from the social interactions a place like Tech Club affords?
How might other marginalized students, those without learning differences but who might have trouble adjusting socially because they are new to the school or for other reasons, benefit from a program such as Tech Club?
One way to improve one of the research questions would be, how are the marginalized students going to interact with the autistic students is a positive or negative way?
